Do you think that you need an expensive camera and special equipment to shoot great digital photographs?

Do you think that years of practice are required to produce impressive pictures?

Are you confused by the complicated-sounding terms involved in digital photography like DPI, JPEG or megapixels?

Would tips like those shown below help you take better pictures?

5 Tips for Better Pictures

  1. Watch Your Background - Make sure that in the picture, your background items will not interact negatively with your subject. You really do not want that tree branch embarrassing old Uncle Ed.
  2. Watch for Shadows - Slight shadows can be more pronounced in the picture. Make sure that your subjects do not have strong shadows against features you want to capture.
  3. Get on the Subject's Level - Especially for animals and children, take a moment to kneel down in order to take a straight on picture. You will not only capture expressions better, but you will also give the photograph a more inviting feel.
  4. Get Close-ups - Eliminate the background by bringing your subject closer. Make the subject the only focus of your picture and highlight the attribute(s) you are aiming for.
  5. Use Flash Outdoors - Using flash can eliminate shadows on the faces of your subject in high sunlight. It can also brighten them in contrast to the background.
